Camping at the Kern River

Ryan has the camping bug pretty bad right now and so he is constantly asking us if we can go camping. Doug decided to take us to the Kern River to do some camping and fishing. We ended up with a spot right on the river...you can see it in the background. The boys loved walking down to the water and throwing rocks into it.
Daddy and Ryan doing some fishing. Unfortunately, there was a mud slide further up the river and so it made the water really muddy...not very good for fishing. Ryan had a good time trying to fish though.
One of my favorite lines from the whole weekend was Ryan asking his Daddy... "Daddy, why don't the fish jump onto my hook?" If the fish jumped onto the hook I think Mommy might even take up fishing. :)

The boys did some swimming in the river. They loved when Doug took them out and put them on this rock.
Since there was no toilets, Daddy built Ryan a rock toilet. Pretty funny!

We had such a good time. I am grateful for the fun weekend we were able to spend together as a family.
